Aniek Bouwman is a senior researcher at Wageningen University & Research and holds a PhD in Animal Breeding and Genomics. She is an expert in animal genomics, with a strong focus on understanding how genetic variation—particularly structural variants—contributes to complex traits in livestock. Her work integrates advanced genomic technologies and data analysis to improve breeding strategies, supporting more sustainable and efficient animal production.

After completing her PhD, she joined Breed4Food as a researcher in 2012. Over the years, she has taken on several key roles, including Work Package Leader and member of the Working Group, and has grown into her current position as Scientific Program Leader of Breed4Food. In the current Breed4Food IV program, she leads the work package on Structural Variation (work package 3).
