Utilizing DNA information

The breeding programs of the Breed4Food partners rely on genomic selection. Advances in genomics and molecular biology facilitate that increasingly more genomic information becomes available, both in terms of different types of structural genomic variation, but also for increasingly larger numbers of individuals. This theme focusses on research on how to best use this wealth of information, and on the development of tools and software to efficiently estimate genomic breeding values from the rapidly increasing reference populations.

Rapidly increasing training populations require efficient genomic evaluations. In this project, we develop the MiXBLUP (www.mixblup.eu) genomic evaluation software based…
Through sequence data, an enormous wealth of detailed DNA information becomes available for animal breeders. One important part of this…
