Yvette de Haas

Yvette de Haas is a senior project leader specializing in Precision Phenotyping in the Department of Animal Breeding and Genomics at Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands. Her work focusses on improving livestock through genetic selection, with a focus on adding novel traits or better phenotypes to breeding goals. It involves the use of high-dimensional longitudinal sensor data and time-series analyses to retrieve new information for a better phenotype, and also setting up new national data recordings in order to collect the required data longitudinally on a large scale.

With her research she laid the foundation for an improved breeding value for udder health (introduced in 2006), and a new breeding value for feed efficiency (introduced in 2020) and for methane emissions (introduced in 2025) in the Netherlands. Within Breed4Food she is currently leading the work package on Global Sustainability, with the aim to study how optimized breeding programs can contribute to corporate global sustainability goals.
