Britt de Klerk

My interest in animal breeding programs started early. During my childhood I lived on a farm and got really enthusiastic when selecting stallions for our mares, and wanted to know more about everything around breeding and genetics. After I obtained my Master’s degree I decided to continue my scientific career. In 2012 I started a PhD project called ‘WeerbaarVee’, that was part of Breed4Food, on breeding for healthier cows in the Netherlands. After finishing my PhD thesis I began my job as geneticist with broiler breeder company Cobb. Cobb are always thriving to find ways for improvement and innovation. B4F offers a great opportunity to work with multiple breeding companies and Wageningen university to unite expertise, ideas and knowledge.
